You can add a motion sensor if you like. I found a USB one on amazon (link) or you can add a photocell sensor to turn on from dusk and turn off at dawn (link). It is all up to you and what you want to use it for. I personally use it for when I grill outside at night. I just hook up to my portable battery banks and get my grill on. I didn't put my measurements of the PVC pipes in between the connectors because I really didn't care since I was just using this for me. I made two one for each side of the grill. I will post a picture next time I use it.
This is the picture that started the idea. The light bulbs kept falling with every slight gust of wind, so I decided to do something more permanent and stable. So here we are. The steak wasn't bad either. Labor of love. In Buffalo New York (Go Bills!) we grill year round, even in the winter. Maybe I will put a picture one day with one of my projects.
