Setup a Virtual Server Host
Section Two
In this section I will explain how to log into the Cockpit UI of your newly imaged server.
Then I will explain three things that should be done including setting up for vm's
Install updates
Expand the hard drive
Install Machines module in Cockpit
Logging into Cockpit
In the previous section I set a static ip.
To log into Cockpit you will have to enter in "https://yourip:9090"
Since I set a static IP I will go to "https://10.1.3.6:9090"
You will get a certificate error and warning. Click on "Advanced".
Then click on "Proceed to"
Here you will get a login page.
Expand "Other options" to display "Connect to"
Enter in the following information
Username
Password
For "Connect to" enter in localhost
Since this is the first time logging in you will get a cert key notification.
Click on "Accept key and log in".
After logging into Cockpit you will need to run windows updates.
At the login page you will get a navigation.
In this example we will install updates first.
Click on "Software Updates"
Click on "Install security updates"
I recommend a reboot.
I will select "Reboot after completion" but that is up to you.
After reboot you will have to log into Cockpit again.
Expanding the storage space
After logging back in go a head and click on "Storage"
The lick next to "root - XFS filesystem" and select "Grow"
This will expand to the rest of the free hard drive space.
Slide the bar over to use up all of the space and click on "Grow"
Installing Cockpit Virtual Machine plugin
Next you will click on Applications
Then scroll down to "Machines" and click on "Install"
The Machines module will begin to install
I recommend installing the File Explorer module also.
Now you will have two additional options on the menu.
One will be "Files" and is a file explorer.
The other is "Virtual Machines" and this is where you will control you VM's
Initially you will get a error message station libvirt is not active. To fix this you will need to install "libvirt" Please view Section three for instructions.
